Dr. Marian Ansems joined the VCA Phoenix West Animal Hospital team as an associate doctor in 2000. She became the Medical Director in 2002 and continues to treat patients full-time. Born and raised on a farm in Nova Scotia, Canada, Dr. Ansems obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. she then continued her studies in veterinary medicine at one of only four veterinary schools in Canada, at the University of Prince Edward Island. Tired of the cold winters and looking for adventure, Dr. Ansems headed south to sunny Phoenix Arizona... and found a great job with great people at Phoenix West!
Dr. Ansems is passionate about educating people on the best health care for their pets. She knows that by great service and education we have the best chance possible to allow our beloved pets to live longer healthier, and happier lives. She enjoys taking the time to get to know each client and pet. Dr. Ansems' veterinary interests include dentistry, internal medicine, surgery, and senior care of dogs and cats. She also enjoys working with birds, reptiles, and small mammals (rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, etc). Dr. Ansems did some additional training in exotic pet medicine and surgery in Boston at the well-known Angell Memorial Hospital and also at the Veterinary School of Louisiana State University.
