VCA Animal Medical Center of Tucson is centrally located on 1st Ave between Grant and Glenn on the SW corner of Kelso & 1st Ave (85719). We invite you to visit our 6,000 square foot AAHA accredited facility for a tour and to meet our welcoming staff and veterinarians. We are minutes from the University of Arizona and Pima Community College Downtown Campus. Our services include comprehensive preventative wellness care including early disease detection, vaccines, internal and external parasite control, internal medicine, surgery, routine and advanced dentistry procedures, and urgent care. We also provide a comfortable and safe boarding facility.

Dr Avon Tai-Machado, DVM
Dr Avon Tai-Machado, DVM

Associate Veterinarian
School: Colorado State University

Dr. Avon Tai-Machado was born in Taipei, Tawain. She moved to Sacramento, California when she was one year old, but has spent most of her life her in Arizona. Dr. Tai-Machado received her Bachelor of Scence degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. She has a Master of Business Administration degress from Colorado State University where she earned her Doctor of Beterinary Medicine degree in 2008. Dr .Tai-Machado has special interests and experience in animal denistry as well as animal behavior.

Leah Patrick, DVM
Leah Patrick, DVM

Associate Veterinarian
School: Kansas State University

Dr Patrick grew up in Tempe, Arizona and attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate studies. She then moved to Manhattan, Kansas to attend veterinary school at Kansas State University. During veterinary school, she married her husband, Brian and they adopted their first dog, Nova, from a research lab on campus. She graduated in 2009 and traded the "Little Apple" for the "Windy City" as she moved to the Chicago area to complete a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the VCA Berwin and VCA Aurora Animal Hospitals.
After completing her internship, the Patrick clan moved to Tucson and Dr Leah Patrick joined the team at VCA Animal Medical Center of Tucson.
In her spare time she enjoys doing just about anything outdoors and looks forward to re-discovering beautiful Tucson over the years to come.

Annette Brunner, DVM
Annette Brunner, DVM

Dr Brunner is a native of Tucson and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Health from the University of Arizona, graduating with honors. She attended veterinary school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. After graduation, she relocated to Prescott, Arizona and spend the next eight years practicing small animal medicine, and obtained valuable emergency experience during that time. Dr Brunner moved back to Tucson in 2003, and has been practicing as an associate and relief veterinarian there ever since. Dr Brunner also has special interest in feline medicine.
In her spare time, Dr Brunner enjoys hiking, fishing and spending time with her husband, Dean, and their cat, Dudley.
