Abbey Animal Hospital is a full service small animal hospital. We offer the best quality and up-to-date medical care including: digital X-ray, in-house blood diagnostics, Laser surgery, Professional Dental Cleanings and Endodonics, Laser Therapy, and ultrasound. We also offer dermatology consults, exotic exams, grooming, annual vaccinations, behavior consultations, boarding, pick-up / drop offs, evening hours 2 days a week as well as weekend hours. We also have a full pharmacy on site.
Dr.Knopp is a native of Virginia. He completed his undergraduate education at Virginia Tech and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee. Dr.Knopp's family includes his wife Kathy and 3 children: Allison, Christopher and Mark as well as a house full of pets. Dr.Knopp never stops learning. He makes a point of regularly attending continuing education courses to bring his clients and patients the most up-to-date medicine available.
Dr. Knopp and Kathy have owned and operated Abbey Animal Hospital since 1994, a year after their youngest was born. Besides their children they share their home with a multiple of pets which include: 1 African Grey, 4 dogs, 2 cats and many exotic pets.
Dr. Knopp & Kathy also participate in the YFU foreign exchange student program. They have been participating in this program for since 2000 and so have lots of extra children in Europe.
Kathy has been married to Dr. Knopp Since 1983.
Kathy graduated from University of Maryland with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. She always wanted to be a Veterinarian so being here at Abbey Animal Hospital is the next best thing.
Kathy received her Veterinary Technicians degreeand is looking forward to taking the boards in Jan 2010. She is a very busy women having a full time family, full work load, and studying for the boards.
My name is Amanda Moshier and I am a veterinary technician. I have an Associate in Science from TCC and I graduated from Veterinary Technician School at NOVA in Fall 2005. I have been a part of the Abbey family since January 2000 and plan to pitch camp here for a long time. I've always had the desire to be around animals and I have decided to make a career out of it. I have been happily married to my loving husband John since January 1999. We have 3 dogs (Djorna, Delilah, and Sonny), 2 cats (Callie & Milton), a horse, an iguana (Nesta), and oodles of fish. My name is Diana, and I have lived in Virginia most of my life. I've worked Abbey Animal Hospital since October 2000 and have grown from being a receptionist to being the office manager.. I have 1 male and 1 female fawn pugs named Herbie and Lady. I also have a flame point Himalayan cat named Spencer. I am married and have 2 sons Ronnie, and Andrew and a step daughter named Kalie.read more
Alli has been with Abbey Animal Hospital since July 2004
She has 2 dogs: a toy poodle, staffordshire terrior mix, and 2 cats. She recently got married to a great guy and is enjoying married life.
Melissa has been with us since May 2007. She has 2 dogs Spaz and Nadie and has been a great addition to the Abbey Family. She is a hard worker and loves animals very much.
Chelsea joined the Abbey Animal Hospital team in April 2008. She comes to us with a bachelors degree in Animal Science from VA Tech, and has previous experience working in large animal veterinary clinics. She currently owns a boxer (Logan) and a boxer mix (Piper) and recently lost her long time horse (Puddles).read more

Vicky works hard, loves animals and they love her. Around here she is also known as the "Dog Whisperer". She wins the hearts of dogs and cats who have a history of aggressive behavior. We are truly lucky to have her as part of our team.read more
Desiree has been with us since January 2009. She comes to us with many years of experience in the veterinary field Her family is made up of 2 pitbulls, Zeus & Remy, as well as 3 bengal cats, Hana, Divi, & Kau'i but she loves all animals.read more
Lexi Joined the Abbey Animal Hospital Family in August 2009. She has a St. Bernard puppy, Lucy, who strives for her attention. She is also trained as an assistant so you may see her helping the Doctors. She is currently attending school to further her education and become an official veterinary technician.read more
Janelle comes to us with many years of experience in grooming. Although joining the Abbey team in February 2011, she fit right in with our tight family. She is fun-loving and cares deeply for the animals she grooms and it reflects in her work. We hope to hold on to her for a long-long time.read more
